Vision

Mount Vernon has been a growing church since 1981. God has blessed us wonderfully and this has been true under a wide variety of circumstances: in our urban land-locked location on Broad Street; in Hermitage High School; and most abundantly in our newest location on Nuckols Road. There have been ups and downs, but always upward and onward. Today, we move forward with a vision to imagine what God has planned for the future of Mount Vernon Baptist Church.

“Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine … be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever!” Ephesians 3:20-21

Our VISION

"Bringing Joy to the Heart of God by Bringing Christ to the Heart of the World."

This vision is amplified by five specific goals:

  • To lead the world to know the saving grace of Jesus Christ.

  • To lead all people to experience vibrant worship of God.

  • To establish Bible fellowships resulting in personal growth and increased outreach, attendance and Christ-like service to God.

  • To organize and equip a ministry of care and support to people in crisis or need.

  • To provide facilities, resources and support to the ministries of Mount Vernon Baptist Church.
