Restore
A vision begins with a small seed. Over time that seed fully matures and develops into the beautiful plant that God intended. Four years ago, Mount Vernon embraced a vision to begin a ministry of hope and healing in our church. Under the banner of Celebrate Recovery, many individuals and families have participated and lives have been changed.
Our challenge is to take the successful principles of healing we have experienced through our hope and restoration ministries and extend them community-wide. We are now ready to take the next step in extending hope and healing to our community at large.
We are proud to announce that Mount Vernon has reached an agreement with the YMCA of Greater Richmond to partner in establishing RESTORE, a transformational ministry that will begin at Mount Vernon with plans for expansion to every branch of the YMCA in Richmond and surrounding churches. RESTORE ministry was originally developed and implemented with great success in Nashville, Tennessee. Mount Vernon and the Shady Grove YMCA will together launch the first RESTORE ministry on the East Coast beginning July 1, 2011.
Through this ministry we are seeking to touch the lives of many more families for Christ. Rev. Robin Lafon will transition from Mount Vernon's church staff to join the YMCA as the first Executive Director of RESTORE in Richmond. In this role, she will offer continued leadership to the ministry at Mount Vernon as well as direct the development of RESTORE city-wide.
There will be many opportunities for leadership and volunteer participation within RESTORE. The weeks and months ahead will be challenging as we embark on the adventure of launching this new program. If you are interested in exploring service in this ministry, contact Robin at 804-270-3866 x161
Together we can, "Bring joy to the heart of GOD, by bringing CHRIST to the heart of the world".
